Great find – don’t remember seeing so many colors in one area

Awesome!! Poplar can be so interesting and you really found a board with more colors than I have found. Nice!

Years ago I had a piece of Poplar with a lot of color in it. I was excited, then it turned brown. Sunlight, the natural wood darkener, what can you do.

Bill, this poplar is spectacular. You are right a Kleenex box is a great way to see your work daily. I like the box that you have made. It is very functional and beautiful.

I hope your shop comes along. I spent nearly 20 years working on mine so it would be ready for when I retired. I have had hours and hours of fun building and using my shop. May you enjoy the same.

I know that your shop is not complete now, but when it is further along you might enjoy looking at this technique for making these boxes.

Bill, I apologize if I have big footed your great post. I just wanted to pass on some information that I thought would be of interest to you and others on this site. You have really made a great box from great wood. Keep boxing and keep posting.

The colors of the wood blow my mind! Are you in the box swap? I wouldn’t mind getting something like that!

Poplar isn’t always appreciated for what it can be. Nice use of that color.

Wow! I’ve seen lots of wood in my years but this poplar is really unique. Big Al is right it’s spectacular! A tissue box is the perfect project for this wood. You can turn it in any direction and still see it’s beauty from any angle. I posted a couple of tissue boxes on LJ’s also but they are for full size tissues and are also for concealing a gun.
Nice work and good luck with your shop!

Amazing color! When I first saw this I thought you were some sort of aniline dye wizard. Nice job on the box.
