Hello All,

I don’t know if everyone is getting tired of Tiny Boxes, but alas, here is another one. This is perhaps my favorite one of the mix. I really like the color of the lid. Alice is made from hard maple and padauk, with a tung oil finish.

I have a few photos, beyond these, on tonight’s blog.

Thanks. Working on a the same style box over and over, in a batch of 12, really helped me hone my skill.

Thanks…but I should mention that the design is from Doug Stowe’s book, “Basic Box Making” by Taunton Press. I recommend it highly.

Very Nice!!

I really like your choices of colors. They compliment each other so well. Also, your attention to matching the grain around the box sides is quite impressive.

Very nice box and that is an eye catching contrast of the woods. Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous box! Tiny boxes are a great use of stuff too pretty to throw away. Did you have any difficulty keeping the padauk from staining the maple? Stowe’s books/dvd are great.

Jake.

Chinitorama,

I didn’t have any problems, but I was really careful. I always sanded them separately. The tung oil didn’t cause any staining issues.
