Secrets of the String Box Revealed. Here’s the finished project. Wenge with maple stings and figured maple top and handle. It is finished with a few coats of clear gloss spray lacquer out of a can, with a couple of coats of satin on top and a coat of Renaissance wax. I sanded the top to 400 and the sides to 320. Not enough room for all the corner pictures, but you can bet the strings all line up at the corners. The box is about 9×14 and has Soss 203 hinges. The legs were formed by cutting away the middle sections with a dado set. I plan to make some removable trays later on and will cut a bunch to fit several boxes. Check out the blog to see construction details, Soss jig, mistakes, and more.
