Showing off my FIRST (WOW!) EVER lathed ornament! *BG ok it’s simple but I had started with a 5 1/2” long by 2” piece of maple! Oh well. Learning is FUN! I really enjoyed taking the time to work with each tool. Setting up the lathe…now I understand how to use the 4 chuck. Ahh..so just have to see what more I can do.

Now the world is your oyster. It’s a great feeling to finish your first turned piece.

Nice work, Krum. Did you have a picture or other plan to follow or was this something that you created as you turned?

Looks good, but you will need more for the your tree.

Thanks all! I did it on my own. I have a book that describe what each tool would do. I really didn’t know what it would look like. Once I had the shape then I used the parting tool to add more to it. Oh I am SURE I’ll be making lots more! And I can’t wait to do more.

Krum the good news is that your first turning came out really nice – the bad news is that you will never again have a first turning. Your first turned out MUCH better than my first turning :-))
