I thought this might be a good way to introduce myself as a new member of this forum. I’m looking forward to participating in all of the discussions and learning from the resident experts (there appears to be a number of them!)

On to the project recently completed. It’s a bench constructed primarily from cherry with fiddle back maple end panels. The lines of the small bench (about 32” in length and 16” in height) have an asian look. The project combines a number of construction techniques including panel glue up for the top, frame and panel for the ends, mortice/tenon joinery, and several tapered cuts. The finish is Deft oil over a wash coat of Seal Cote Shellac.

That a beautiful piece, just one thing though please use all six pic. slots we feel cheated not seeing more angles…lol thanks for posting and welcome to LJ’s…BC

That’s my kind of project: Love maple and cherry and that asian-inspired look is my favorite. Definitely saving your photos to my collection.

Welcome to the Jocks. Real nice look. Love the maple panels. You definitely hit the Asian looks it is truly a beautiful piece.

Tom, welcome to L J’s and it looks like You are hitting one out of the park on the first swing with this beautiful bench ! Love the wood combo,design and warm looking finish as well. Hope to see some more projects and or shop tour even,once again nice work !
