For years I have seen some pinewood derby cars made as jets. I always wanted to make one with moving wings like the F-14 but I could not find decals. I remembered I had an old molde kit that never went together quite rite and the decals were never used. So I decided to build this. The Roy Folker VF-1S from Robotech/Macross. It has working gears so the wings open at the same time. The wheels are cut down pinecar tires coverd with aluminium tape.

I don’t yet have kids, but your pinewood derby designs make me hope for a son just so we (err, I mean “he”) can be in scouts. :)

Louis, another great one! Looks real cool.
As for decals, There are numerous online resources you could try Fred Cady or Slixx decals.
I think those two are mostly for cars though, If you have a decent inkjet or laser jet printer you can purchase white or clear decal film and make your own for scale models.
I do this for my custom cars (nascar) It not hard to do and they work the same as regular model kit decals.
You cannot print white, so for white you have to use the white deacal film.
There is a printer called an alps printer that prints white but way too expensive…
Anyway hope this helps,Thanks for sharing and nice work.

Sweet! I loved Robotech growing-up, and had several Macross models including Roy’s Valkyrie. Brings-back fond memories.
