Another recent piece. The box is made of Ribbon Sapele and the lid is book-matched Spalted Maple. When I find a nice piece for a box top I do a preliminary prep, in this case the book matching, I set it aside and then at some later point pick it up and put a box around it. This lid panel was prepped about a year ago.

This box also has a small ring bar in one of the trays. Messy to make but adds more flexibility to the finished piece. I do have an explanation on how I build these on my blog: www.artnabox.com.

Such a beautiful piece, so elegant in its simplicity. Gorgeous wood. I’m particularly impressed with your photography and photographic set (nice backdrop). Makes an excellent subject even better.
