This is a pinewood derby type car of a beatle and a hot rod combined. It has an opining shell and clear wings made from soda bottles. It is not a standered size for pinewood derby races.

Do you do this to enter in races?
Your cars are always really great, but if the are not legal do you have a club or something to show them?
I really enjoy looking at the great designs you come up with I was just wondering is this just your passion or is there a not legal pinewood club that I did not know about.
I have made a couple with my son but nothing like this.
Great Job! Thanks for sharing.

P.S. I build scale (Plastic) cars/planes and I do it just for fun, I haven`t entered a model contest for years.
There are lots of model car clubs, and I think these would do real well in contest.
Maybe add a different aspect of model building…. to help the model car world from going dead.

Years ago I started building pinewood derby cars for fun and to push my self in creativity. As the internet became more user frendly I found a mesage board on the pinepro.com website. Witch led be to a new website derbytallk.com .Then some nice folks in GA made WIRL.com where you could send in your car to race with other pepole a round the country. I did it for about 2 years. They removed the real car catagory and I lost my job and could not aford to continue. There is a few more raceing leagues out there but I don’t have the money or the time to start that up again.

Louis, Sorry to hear that you don’t get much chance to race your cars anymore. I am however very glad you found LumberJocks to display them. They are quite awesome. Thanks, looking forward to the next ones.
