We had some louvre doors in our bedroom, a single opening & a double opening to wardrobes, that came with the house when it was built. My wife never liked them much & called them “those dust collectors. The time came 4 or five years ago to do something about them, after all “25 years” was not too long to wait.
I went to the local door makers, all said the doubles were not standard openings & the cost of tailor made doors was ‘through the roof’.
I decided to have a crack at them myself. I had made a couple of glass paned cedar doors before but never panelled doors.
The doors are bi-fold, one single set & one double set. The panels & frames are radiata pine. Joints are biscuited (no sign of movement yet). The raised panels were first routered then attached on particle board. As the doors were painted I could get away with the cheaper materials.
They did turn out a bit heavy but that does give a more solid feel.
I think they turned out OK, certainly much cheaper than the bought ones & the Boss was happy.
P.S The door on the left in the first picture is a bought one, I made the others to match.

Maybe if you weren’t so “Grumpy” your wife wouldn’t paint them pink! LOL!

Hey Dadoo. The doors are white not pink. Probably my bad photography. Not so Grumpy really.

Nice work Grumpy. Anything that makes the “better half” happy is a good thing. You should have wrangled a new tool out of the deal though.
