Fungus. The fungus on the tree is also red.

Nice job.
I have some box elder that looks like this.
Box Elder is a very under appreciated wood. Many people don’t know how beautiful it can be.

Thanks all..It is in the Acer family (Acer negundo) and turns like any other maple except it has more going on in terms of spalt and figure, curly and quilt and worm track.
