This was another commissioned piece for a family member. This is the biggest chest I’ve made yet at almost four feet wide, three feet high, and two feet deep. Made with ply for the box and solid pine/fir trim, mainly beetle kill. I laminated thinly cut strips of pine to make the bands for the lid.

Good looking chest!
How heavy is that top?
I ask because a friend of mine built a toy chest but the top was too heavy for the kids; hard to open and dangerous when closing as his son got caught between the top/case and could not get out!
