Hello Friends,
I am a furniture maker here in Hollywood, CA. I found the site by accident and I thought it was a good time to start sharing my work with other woodworkers and seeing others as well. I am self-taught. I started my first piece in 2000 and have really been serious about it as a living since 2003. Some great things are starting to happen. I invite everyone to let me know what they think about my style, good or bad. If you are interested you can see all of my work at my website: whyrhymer.com . Thanks to the people who welcomed me to the site after I signed up. I will be making some new fixtures in the coming weeks that I can share as a project. In the meantime if you are interested in seeing video, when you are on the home page of my website, click the area on the bottom right where it say’s “click to preview”. I give each of my clients a short film about what it takes to make their furniture. This is a short example of what their film would look like. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Take care.

Those are some nice designs. Do you do the designing or are you following the customers designs?

Great looking furniture.
I assume the chair is not a dining doom chair. Everyone would be tripping over the legs and you’d never get any food on the table.

Great work – I really like the armoire with the asymmetric and varied panel and drawer sizes…

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I will be making the chair into a dining chair with lower arms. This was my first chair so I went with the lounge chair aspect because of the show I was debuting it at. For DrSawdust, yes these are all my designs. If I do any custom work, I base it off my own designs. I used to not have this option, but I have started be succesful with my own work. Thanks again everyone.

Your work is very good. It’s scary how young the really talented craftsmen are here on LumberJocks. Wish I had that talent at that age – heck, I wish I had that talent at MY age now.

the video is amazing.
Very artistic, very personal, very spiritual, very professional and definitely sells “you” and your work.
Very impressive. Thank you for that moment into your life/workshop.

I don’t know about you but I really don’t like the term “Wood Art”. I look at all those pieces and see both beautiful and functional pieces of furniture.
I especially like the cabinet with all the asymmetrical panels and drawers, beautiful work man.

Beautiful work and a cool video. Some of the production qualities of movies and film must have rubbed off during your stint as an actor in Hollywood. Your video was certainly more artistic than the typical woodworking video. Really well done.

Kaleo,
I agree with you 100% on the “wood art” stuff. I always start from a position of utility. I am certain you can have both. I use my furniture in my home everyday, and have no problems. I wish you the best with your schooling and setting up shop when you get out. Thank you very much for the compliments. Take care.

That is some excellent stuff! And you’ve clearly got your own unique artistic voice working for you, even if there’s a tiny hint of Asian and Maloof in those pieces.
