I was surfing the net for a birthday project… and came upon several “Band Saw Box” pix. So, by just looking at the pix… This was my 1st effort at making a band saw box. I cut the top and scrolled my daughter’s name into the top to personalize it. Put some pix in the drawers and a message inside. It’s made of Myrtle Wood. She Loved It! Yaa Dad. :o)

Cool box! I love how the box has funky drawers that pull out. :) You daughter will love it… perfect for hiding little keepsakes.

If that’s your first one, you definitely have the knack. Love how you personalized it!

Thanks to all for your very nice comments. I must admit… it turned out a little better than I was expecting. Questions about the top. I just used MS Word to print out the name design, stuck it to the top ¼ inch slab I cut off… then scrolled it out. Glued it all back together and wha-laa. // Note: I didn’t know how to make the little drawers… (cut off the front/back then hollow out with the band saw) So…. I used my dedicated mortise to hollow it out one square hole at a time. / Actually added a nice effect on the bottom… but doing it the “right” way is a bunch faster. Knowledge is Power! O ya… and “Hind-Sight” is 20/20 :o)

Great looking box! What font did you use? Those letters look raised. Love it and how it looks, real unique.

Hey… I finally found the font I used for the top. It’s called: Vineta BT
Here is one of many links you can download it from:

Enjoy…

Thanks for the font info. I’ve stored it safely in my file of fonts for scrolling.

Nice little box. I was having a hard time figuring out what you meant by BD at first I thought “Baby Daddy” which I thought was a bit strange since it “Heather” on it…then I read the description and saw it was a birthday present…it all makes since now!
