Two Oval Dining Tables

We finished two oval dining tables this week, one 60×86 (the walnut one) and one 42×78, the one in English Elm with the metal base. Both projects were interesting. The walnut table was a new design and had some interesting engineering, clamping, and fabrication challenges. The English elm we had never used before and we had to explore various finishing options as the wood had rather large open pores and the client felt the natural color was too light for her room ... There are more and bigger photos and cad drawings on my dorset custom furniture blog as well as individual posts for
the walnut table
and for the English Elm table

Simple elegance, Something about the look of the Walnut table has a calming affect on me.
