Another flower holder

Flower holder as a thank you gift. This one is from all walnut. Added some angles to this one (first attempt here: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/357209) and off-season the side supports. Made the glue up more challenging but like the look better. Finished with General Finishes High Performance.

Now to the errors….

I miscalculated the one dado cut so had to drill the circle into the base so the glass would fit without hitting the base. When gluing up, I didn’t get the top opening and the base circle perfectly lined up (but close!). Two dados had to be shimmed as I took off too much on my last pass at the tablesaw. Few other issues, but the recipient liked it.

Color is more true in the last two pics

You really do an excellent job of recovering from errors, the piece looks excellent!

I’m still befuddled on how that walnut looks like beech in some photos and walnut in the others 8^)

The color looks more true in the last two pictures. I agree that something is off in the initial pictures. Not sure what is going on as I take them with my cell phone.
