Worked with my friend on Saturday & he used one of my rustic mallets.

He asked me to make him one – so we worked on it together.

Head is cherry
Handle is irish yew

He chose as simple a design as you can make it;
No trim pieces
No leather lace to hang it
Minimal sanding
No beveled edge on the mallet head

We pegged it with a hickory dowel and finished it off with boiled linseed oil.
A very simple design as he wanted!
Great to share with a friend

Very interesting look. Looks like painted with some gold or bronze metal paint.

This is a nice looking shop made mallet.

Hi Ivan,
I applied boiled linseed oil only – the coloring is from the natural wood & probably the lighting …
