This project came about after i lost most of my book collection last spring in our flooded basement. I had talked about building a bookcase for the house for a while but it never made it to the top of the list. This left most of my books in boxes in the basement. Unfortunately our basement flooded last spring and i lost most of them. Now that I’ve started rebuilding my collection i decided i needed somewhere to put them. I had several boards of sassafras laying around the shop and liked the way they looked. This was a quick project that only took 3 or 4 hours total to finish. The shelves are set in dadoes. The finish is danish oil which darken the golden color a little but it turned out pretty good. This was a fun project that was one of the rare ones i got to keep(usually i’m building stuff for other people). Thanks for looking.

Sorry about your books. I hope this bookcase keeps the rest of them safe.
