January, 2018 – A friend asked for a bandsaw box that looks like an apple. So here is my rendition. This started as a glue-up of several woods. The front is maple. A little green paint on the leaf. The inside of the drawer is flocked. Dowels are used for joinery. The finish is multiple coats of water-based poly, brushed on. Thanks for looking.

How did you attach the stem and leaf? Did you drill a hole for them or just glue them on? Your post has inspired me to try them for the kids teachers

There are actually two small dowels, one at each place where the stem and leaf meet the apple. The “dowels” are actually chopsticks left over from a dinner at a Chinese restaurant. The stem and leaf touch and are only glued together (no joinery).

got it! Thanks so much. I actually tried them and went a little different route with the stem after seeing your post. For some reason I can’t post a photo of my results up here but you can check them out in my project list
