First attempt at carving

I tend to hoard even the smallest pieces of scrap around the shop and for some time have wanted to attempt to carve something small like this. I admit, I mostly used my Dremel but I did buy some inexpensive carving tools! This little project was fun. It’s just Padauk and Purpleheart – which I think blended nicely for this heart. Working on something little like this was actually quite therapeutic – the day was gone before I knew it! To finish it I put a coat of Danish Oil and then a couple coats of semi gloss poly. Now I’ve got other ideas in my head now for all the other little pieces I have hanging around :)

Nice work. I think the two colors go well together also.
