I made a new twin screw vise to replace an older one. The third center screw prevents racking when edge planing boards at the top.

Cherry and maple. Finished with paste wax.

Hi G’W’, Have you considered one of these gizmos to prevent racking?

You may need to play with the dimensions.

Hi LittleBlackDuck

That device looks like it’s designed to clamp objects of an irregular shape. My racking is only from top to bottom and is solved by turning a screw. Easy peasy.

This is a great shop made vise and a fine addition to your work space.

Sorry G’W’... I’m an ignoramus to woodworking terminology. If I see it, I try to do it… if I can’t spell it, I leave it to my missus.

The Easy Peasy is noted and appreciated.
