While we were doing our remodel we started using an old firepit to burn trash and scrap wood. One day I made the mistake of saying that I thought we could cook on it. The next day my wife produced a grate and with a couple of well placed pieces of rebar we were in business. Over he course of the next few months we enjoyed many evenings around our “Redneck Grill”. Naturally we couldn’t be satisfied with something simple, so viola “Roy’s Redneck Grill”. There is running water, gas and electricity to the counter. I also put gas and compressed air to the firepit.

Not bad for a redneck! That’s a really nice setup. What did you use for the top, looks like thick large sizefloor tile. I have a similar project going on now. Hope it turns out as nice.

18” ceramic floor tile, with decorative inserts to match the sink. BTW after looking for a premade firepit that was what I wanted, and being shocked by the prices, my buddy Rick56 helped me fabricate the metal portion of the firepit. Total cost $35.00.

I have to say, I have an outdoor kitchen similar to your grilling island and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. you will make many memories out there!
Have your say...
