Check out the video if you want to see all the steps I took to build this table. Video here

I was commissioned to build a farmhouse table from scratch. The customer sent me a photo and said “I want this table” I said, “just like that?” They said “yeah” So I went to at it…
I bought some pine boards at the local home center. I’m worked on the top first I had to get the boards ripped down to size. I joined 4 boards to make the top. Oh and I used biscuits and glue to connect the boards.
I cut 2×4 boards to skirt the edges of the top.
The table’s base and legs are made from 2×4s and 1×4s, then painted white.
I used a lot of different tools to distress the top. I used chains, a hammer, and a grinder…I even torched the wood. Oh, I also used an awl to poke worm holes into the top. We’re trying to give this new wood, a very old and rich vibe!
I used a gel stain and outdoor poly for the clear coat. The nicks and dings created by the distressing process come alive at this point. It was a very fun project and it has a whole lot of personality!
Check out the video like I mentioned. It’ll give you a better look at what I did. Video here

This is a beautiful set of a farmer’s table and it’s benches. Nice work!

That’s a nice looking table!

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you allow for wood movement in the tabletop planks relative to the border?
