another lathe project

This is another lathe project, the first picture is the pattern that makes the mold for the external shape of the casting. The second picture is the corebox chucked in the lathe and it makes the internal cavity of the casting. The last two pictures are the finished pattern and corebox.

How many bags of shavings did you fill from this turning? Or do you go by the truck load? Do you have a full time sweeper? Looks like you specialize in huge turnings? How about a picture of your lathe?

Very interesting! In my youth I worked as a welder fabricating steel and aluminum forms and patterns for blow molder and injection molder machines. They would make all kinds of interesting shapes; Bumpers for cars, trash cans anything made of plastic. They were usually one-of-a-kind forms. That was one of my favorite jobs as a young welder. What is the pattern for or going to create that you are fabricating in the pictures?
