Segmented Walnut and Maple Box

I constructed this box using the segmented ring method, but instead of turning the box on my lathe I used my CNC machine. Each ring was cut separately on the CNC then glued together using a jig I made to align the rings. The CNC method actually took longer than using the lathe, but will allow for more complex shapes on future projects.

Very nice looking lidded vessel. I guess that proves that there is always more than on way to skin a cat.

CNC is another hobby I’ve often thought about but wouldn’t know where to start.

(Edit) I just took a look at your projects and I must say I’m very impressed with your skills with your CNC skills. I really like the humming birds and lobster. Wow!

I would of never thought this was made on a cnc machine. Impressive.

Sans lathe, who would have thought!
I like the build process on this piece, need to try that.
Turned out very beautiful.

Nice box Roger.

About CNC … : I was not in favour but finally I bought one early this year and it will be dedicatet to engrave TEXT in wood. This will bring added value to my work.
Still learning gcodes et lettering software. Hope to be able to share soon !
