This is a patterened box approx 127×127 x 72mm (5” x 5” x 2 7/8”) made from Purpleheart, Ebony and Maple with a foam lined Birch Ply base.
The pattern consists of rectangles of Ebony and Maple from 1 to 10mm of in size and is 7mm deep on all faces.
The finish is Wax over Sanding Sealer.
I hope you enjoy the optical illusion of the patterns.

Let me be one of the first to congratulate you on an extremely difficult project that was extremely well done.
The view of the inside of the top is just mind blowing.
Good job Sir,
Steve

Congrats on finishing that thing. Incredible looking. I think the purpleheart breaks up the dizziness inducing illusion and was a nice touch. However, I am curious what it would look like without the purpleheart. I think the illusion of the curves would carry over the corners possibly making a rectangle look round?? Hmmm. Great job though.

nailbanger – I see that box in my sleep. I’ve been working on it for just over a week now. Even I am starting to get dizzy.
