This is a table made for my grandma just recently. She had an old wobbly table that had a particle board top with wood grain laminate and that rubber edge banding. The base was metal and basically really ugly. The table had been there as long as i could remember. She confirmed that it had been there almost 30 years. She deserved something much better in my opinion.

The main part of the top was made from 1-1/2” red oak flooring she had in her shed and the breadboard ends are cherry. The base is poplar. 3 coats of gloss poly on the top and I painted the base brown semi-gloss.

The is my first completed piece of furniture. I think it turned out well and I really like how the colors of the red oak and cherry go together with the clear coat.

beautiful work. I think the colors complement each other well. When incorporating multiple species in one piece I like when the colors are fairly close together. Red oak and cherry is excellent.

I agree that the table turned out really nice. Super first project result! Great use of the flooring! Bet Grandma loves not having her tea wobble into the saucer!
