When we first moved into the house in 99 My wife and I saw many face lifts needed for a 1970 era kitchen. It was lifted so far that it’s now a TV room, and we built a 16×16 extension out the back door. I hired a contractor to build the shell, and my wife and I did everything else from plumbing to electrical, Drywall to custom built cabinets and the flooring. Design changes occurred frequently, but I said as long as they happen “before” I install them that was cool… I’m sure glad she’s into that knotty pine, we’d still be waitin for the money to finish the cabinets…

Very nice! Kitchens are a big project to tackle!

I especially like the built-in treatment for the fridge.

Fridges take up so much space, and corners are a waste of space so I combined the two. I have a secret hide-a-way back there also…LOL Too the left is a broom closet, to the right is a pantry.

The space over the fridge is great. I’m hoping to get started on cabinets for my kitchen sometime soon. I’d only thought about a cabinet with doors there. Leaving it open like you did looks pretty sharp.
-- Made lots of sawdust and pounded some nails. Haven't finished anything, though.

I want to put a light behind the board above the opening. That’ll be a cool night light for the kitchen for late night snack raids…
