My daughter Ine married to Juan Pablo last November and moved to Rio de Janeiro. I gave her this present. I think her husband was not very happy since he is supposed ti fill in that box.
Wood mosaics are Guatambú (yellow) ; Palosanto (Green) and Cedar (Brown). Lid and sides also cedar.
Finished with laquer.
The case design was copied from Steve in Marin, and sides curves were done exactly as he explains in his video
However I checked twice with Mathias Wandel´s cove calculator (this guy is astonishing!)
Quilted was made according to Robin´s instructions. So any claim please should be addressed to Robin.
Did not have time to include a more reasonable base or feet.
Thank you

That is a spectacular box. I have never made one, maybe one of these days. The cove and Quilting come out fantastic. Thanks for the links they will be helpful in the future…

I really like the way you let the pattern of the top be the pattern on the inside. Beautiful!

The tumbling blocks is one of my favourite designs… nicely executed… I also like the strap to hold the lid open…and the mortised hinges… don’t see that too often any more..What Is Next?

Beautiful, Fernando. Your daughter will treasure it forever, as it is a wonderful hand-made gift from her father.
