These are two canes that I made out of old items, the first cane is made out of a brass duck head and an old pool house pool cue. The brass duck head was givin to me by my nephew who bought a cane that someone made out of a wooden dowel rod and lots and lots of constuction adhesive. It was all I could do to get the head off the dowel rod, It was covered! He paid .50cents for it. The shaft is made from an old pool house pool cue that a friend gave me, he plays alot of pool and the pool hall was throwing it away. It does not have a tip yet, I’m still trying to come up with someting I like.
The second cane I made with my dad. It is an old hame ball handle (brass) my dad says he’s not sure how old it is, but it is older than me (39yrs) He’s had it as long as I can remember! It is a little beaten up, he said it was once on a horse saddle. The shaft is an old shovel handle ( hickory he thinks) He bought a piece of land in 1990 after he retired. It had a house , garage, and barn on the land. The house was in too bad of shape to save. This old handle was there when he took over the property the old man who owned it before him was on this land for a very long long time. My dad thinks that this shovel was very old. It really looked it!
It was the thickest handle I’ve ever seen, how it broke I will never know. The wood was all grey like, but I sanded it and it looked like it may be good to make a cane. So I took it to the belt sander and this is what come out of it.
I feal a little silly posting these two canes after seeing all the super beautiful canes on here, like mmh and knottysticks canes just to name a few.
They may not be the most detailed canes but I like them and I had fun making them! and I got to make a project with my dad. That is what really makes them nice to me.
Thanks for looking and any comments.

Thanks Kindlingmaker and knottysticks for the kind words.
I’m going to my dads today(he lives in Ky) to check out some of his wood supply.
He used to make alot of wooden items and he has alot of scrap lying around.
I also cut and put up some long sticks from his land about a year or so ago and going to see how well they are drying out.
Thanks for looking and the comments.
