A friend did the Stone work and I made the Fireplace Mantle. It was a nice team. The mantle is Natural Red Oak.

Looks great. Nice that the screen lines up with the stonework.

Did you put some finish on the oak? If not, I would suggest some linseed oil. Brings out the grain. Just restored my own fireplace last week, which is some 110 years old ;)

You both did a great job! I feel warm just look at it.

I have done quite a few Fire place mantles and cannot help but be happy because the people we do it for are so proud of them. It is a place they decorate, set drinks and just the center of attention above the fire. And yes it has a finish on it. It is not stained and them has some general finish on it that is pretty durable. However it is new and not 110 years old. I love that Dr Tebi has this done.

This is a very nice mantle and it makes a great accent for the room.
