Here is another project from the past. I turned this Treen Box on my lathe a few years ago. The wood is Sheoak (I think thiat is how it’s spelled). I really enjoyed making this one, don’t know why I havent made another – but now that I’m retiring I will have more time.

Really nice box, Bill. I have to try that now that I’ve got a lathe.

Congratulations on the impending retirement! But who is going to keep my levee safe now? :-)

I’ve left the Levee in good hands Charlie. I’ve actually not worked since April 20 – I went out on sick leave for a knee operation and everything went downhill from there. Spent a week in ICU – a day on the Ventilator and finally had my knee surgery. Anyway, all is ending well. I retire on Sept. 3 and can’t wait. Oh, and I am proud to say that all of the sickness has finally caused me to QUIT SMOKNG after 40+ years of it!!!! I haven’t smoked a cigarette since May 11, 2010.

Nice pepper shaker.

You store pepper inside.

Did you use the Treen mandrel that Beall makes?

If so, how did you like it?

-- No piece is cut too short. It was meant for a smaller project.

Yes, I did use the Beall Mandrel. I guess I like it just fine, I was able to make the piece posted on my first try. I have not tried it since, but it is on my list of things to do.

I bought one of the Treen mandrels and I’ve not tried it yet.
