I’ve been wanting to build a folding miter stand for a while, and this is what I created over the past few days. I took the basic construction from youtube by a guy who’s handle is redneckdiy. I guess the original was fine woodworking, but since i didn’t have a desire for the onboard vacuum storage, I filled it with drawers. I was still able to get the basic construction out of 2 sheets of 3/4” maple ply, and the drawer bottoms are from 3/16” utility ply. I trimmed out the front with some scrap walnut I had laying around.

I appreciate any comments!

Thanks Andybb for the picture advice!

Great looking design and build! Thanks for the youtube reference. I believe this is the link. I need to make it.

PS You should try to re-upload the pictures. If you are using a phone for pictures try holding it horizontally (wide) and they should orient correctly.

Just great! Those wings are real space saver.

So much in such a small footprint! Look like a pleasure to use! Nicely done!

This is a very nice miter saw base and it’s a great addition to your shop.

I have almost all of my tools on wheels. And out to the driveway they go on a nice day. Really nicely done.

interpim – nice work. FYI I built a very similar (if not identical) project from fine woodworking about 12 year ago – I ended up dismantling it as the ‘wings’ eventually became too loose due to excessive wear. Please be careful if you used piano hinges for the wings as they are a weak point. I was lucky as I had the space and could opt for a fixed mitre station. If I could do it again I would have sprung for the prebuilt steel ones.
