This is a ‘universal’ Cigar Box Guitar case I made. It’s big enough for a 2-string bass I have in the works. The sides are 3/4” oak ply. Top is Antonio & Cleopatra cigar box lids and sides laminated onto 1/4” plywood backer. There are two walnut ‘rub-strips’ across top to protect the 6 coats of varnish I applied over the cigar box lids, hope to keep ‘scuffing’ to a minimum for a while at least. Brass butterfly hinges and brass latches. Inside is foam lined, but not quite fully on the lid yet. Bottom and sides are covered with heavy commercial ‘speaker enclosure carpet’ Trying for kind of an ‘old, rustic, but not too worn look.

Awesome case, I’d really like to see the insides when you’re finished.

Hi: How much would you charge to make me a cigar box case? I have a cigar box guitar that I made and it needs a hard case. Would like it to be lightweight – nothing fancy. I like the way you put the cigar boxes on the top of your case. You can email me ramonajan@yahoo.com Thanks.

Ramona: I am really under the gun in my full time job right now. I just don’t know when I could make a case, it would be at least 2-3 months from now. I have no idea what the cost would be as I’ve never made one to sell.
