Walnut box...I see a sunset

Another simple walnut box. This one I think I will keep for myself. The grain pattern in the piece I used for the lid reminds me of a sunset over the rolling waves viewed from an Oregon beach shore. I may be the only one that sees it but it makes me smile with memories of family vacation adventures. Finished with GF High Performance.

I saw it before looking at your last picture 8^)

You can gave fun with figures like that. If you play with a fine brush and dyes, you can add subtle coloring to various elements.

Another nice box BB!

Very pretty box.

Walnut is a nice wood to work too.

ND sunsets were much more stunning than any I have seen since moving to Oregon though! Admittedly; I did see a lot more of them there!

Nice box and pareidolia is a cool thing. They say it’s in the eye of the beholder ;)

a1Jim – definitely fun to find unique grain patterns and then incorporate into a project

MontanaBob – thanks!

builtinbkyn – this was a simple but fun project, the “picture” was a nice bonus

helluvawreck -thanks, the walnut I was given has been great to work with

splintergroup – glad you could see it too! I don’t have much experience with dyes – maybe someday…

ralbuck – sunsets over the ocean on the Oregon coast are special as they are associated with very happy family vacation time for me. Missouri has some great ones too but guess I take most for granted here at home :)

Pareidolia? I remember getting that from a salad bar one time. Beautiful box, just wipe it off with some bleach.
