This little cabinet is, like the splay legged table, a great canvas to express yourself as a craftsman. The variety of shelf/drawer combinations is nearly endless, as are the decorative inlay possibilities. It is made from air dired quartersawn white pine, bog spruce, spanish cedar, cherry, holly, ebony, and swiss pear. The crown and base molding are leafed in genuine 24k gold.
The case is joined together using sliding dovetail joinery and the shelves are let into the case sides via dados. Most joinery, decorations, and smoothing are done totally with hand tools.
I always enjoy teaching this class and watching students’ imaginations go wild!
