Hutches

Project by Jono posted 739 days ago 519 views 1 time favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites Watch

The first hutch is made from cherry and was a project i did through Ornamentum. I liked it enough to make another one although slightly redesigned as a desk for the small apartment i share with my wife Lisa. We needed a book shelf badly and a desk for a laptop and printer but it had to be compact to fit into our apartment. So i took the hutch design and removed one bank of drawers and shrunk the width on the remaning ones to make room for legs and such. I used solid ash for the desk top and glued 3/4 oak veneered ply together to make 1 1/2 and edged it with 1/4’ ash and stained the whole show to create a uniform look.

Wow! You do some nice work. Isn’t is great to be able to create your own furniture to meet your dimensional needs?

Very nice, I like the clean lines. Are the cherry bookcase sides and desk top double thickness plywood also? Regardless, it works well with the desk.
