I made this box for my dad for father’s day. I resawed the sides from one 4/4 board so the grain matches all the way around the box. The top and bottom panels are veneered 1/4” MDF. I wiped on a few applications of amber dye and then lightly sanded it back in order to add some depth and “pop” to the birdseye.

Size: 6” x 10” x 5”
Wood: Bubinga and birdseye maple veneer
Finish: BLO and wipe-on polyurethane

Very nice.

With MDF and veneer concerns about movement basically go away and no one would know unless you told them.

very nice. I wouldn’t have thought of MDF for a veneer base on a small project Good thinking. Nice finish work, too.
