Made these magic wands for my grandkids this year. The oldest is reading the first Hatty Potter book so I figured some wands that light up would be nice. They light up blue and green at the ends. Building the switches into the handles was a real treat but I think it would be much easier should I try it again in the future. Can’t remember the wood species at the moment.

These are awesome! My daughter (even now at 28) has been after me to make her some wands… you know you don’t choose the wand, it chooses you… sheesh… but I would love to know how to light them up!

Thanks for the kind words. These wands started as a single 1” square stick that I had to split and then cut a channel through the center of for the wiring. Cut the cavities for the leds and batteries then create the switch. Everything had to be working properly and keep working even after reassembling the halves and continuing to shape the exteriors. There were several challenges in construction but pretty rewarding in the end.
