This was a gift for my wife this Christmas. The frame is curly maple, the handprints are cedar. The backer is 1/8 oak plywood.

Nice idea for her gift. Is the frame half lapped together?

Unfortunately no, just boring old butt joints. Given the minimum dimensions I needed I didn’t have the stock to spare to do any fun joinery. I figured the curl would make up for the less than exciting joinery!
