Pretty sure this is the last project I will finish this year. This is called “The Dutch Box”, the pattern is from “”. I reduced the pattern down to 85% of the original so it is about 14” l x 5”h x 4”w. I also planed the wood down to 3/16” thick. I cut it out of Cherry and lined it with Mahogany veneer. I stained the veneer that shows from the outside with a red Mahogany stain to give it more contrast. It took about 3 days to cut. I didn’t stack cut, not sure why, I could have stacked the ends and the sides. Finished with three coats of spray shellac sanded then topped with 3 coats of Deft Semi-gloss.

VERY nice work Paul. I like seeing the scroll sawed pattern backed with solid wood, it really looks great with this design.

Gorgeous heirloom! Your scroll saw work is excellent. I love the dimension it adds to the piece.

Last project of the year, I guess so, time would be running out just thinking of it. One of the most beautiful scroll saw projects I have ever seen.

Excellent work. I enjoy making boxes, but they are simple. The fact that they are useful as well as decorative just make sense. Thanks for sharing.
