A padauk recipe box with self-adhesive letters from scrap-booking store. This holds several 4×6 recipe cards with a ledge on top to read while cooking.

Originally gifted christmas 2008. I just added pictures of what the box looks like after 2 years of use (christmas 2010). The paduak has changed colors and is very eye-catching in the kitchen.

Thanks for the comments.

It isn’t really difficult to work with. It is really oily so allowing more dry time than usual helps and wiping down the joints with mineral spirits before gluing seems to make it easier for me. It’s really easy to work with and sand smooth.

I made a knife handle with it as well, i’ll post pictures of that soon.

While i was planning this project out, i went to woodcraft (that’s trouble). They had a ‘thinstock pack’ that had 2bf of 1/4 thick. It was fairly reasonable in price too, less than $20.

The box has no stain, this is just coated with 2 coats of poly (so it is easier to clean in the kitchen).
