Just got started turning wine bottle stoppers. The first one was turned from Quina, an aromatic wood from southern South America and a source of balsam used in perfumes. The second was turned from a scrap of Bay I thought had been relegated to the kindling box long ago.
I love how the detail in the third picture shows off the tight pattern of the Bay grain.

Very cool, could use one of those for those rare times we don’t finish a bottle. :<)

Hello Dragonstaar, welcome to Lumberjocks. I like the shape of your stopper. Never heard of Quina, but it is a beautiful wood; you’re right, the third picture shows off the grain nicely. I just did my first bottle stoppers, and they sure are fun!

Very nice stoppers… I liked the picture of the ornate one!
I’ve only turned pens, but plan on doing some stoppers… what are the best kits?
Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That’s some beautiful work!! I enjoy wine, one of those would look so nice siting atop of a bottle of Sharaz.
