My son asked if I would help him make a birthday gift for his girlfriend. I had to promise to be more of a coach and he do the work. His design, including the little heart he crocheted. Walnut and QS sycamore finished off with satin lacquer.

He got the kisses, I got a hug. Truly enjoyed the father-son time.

I love the lacey look of QS sycamore. Need to get my hands on some!
Is that a raised panel bit you used for the edges of the lid?

Yes, we used a raised panel cutter on the shaper but didn’t cut as deep as you would for a panel to fit in the rail/stile groove.

He did a great job. It’s fun seeing a kid taking interest in something their parent enjoys. I too like the QS sycamore and walnut.

Beautiful box, and I thought I was the only woodworker who crocheted. LOL

Great job on that box. Just so many good life lessons to be learned doing a project like that.
