Keeping busy, waiting for Santa

Well, Santa gave me an early Christmas present. A log fell out of my tree which turned out to be spalted maple. I really don’t know if that means I was a good or bad wood worker to get such a gift.

Everyone knows you have to keep kids (like me) busy on Christmas Eve so out I went, into the 42 degree weather with my lathe and tools in tow.

I just had to try my new stock of wood. So, a few hours later I had a nice bowl. Not as nice as would like, but I was getting kind of cold. Merry Christmas everyone and as always, thanks for looking!

I’d say, if you got spalted anything you were a good woodworker!! Nice looking bowl, Jeff. You’ve got more energy than I. Merry Christmas!!

Nice looking bowl, Jeff. And one less branch you have to worry about falling.

It turned out nice Jeff but you must still be a bad boy for being out in the cold all day. haha. Merry Christmas and enjoy the season.

Thanks guys, projects were caught up, I missed my lathe and had some new wood to play with. Ken, I felt tough when I started but an hour or so later I was feeling it, cold! Dave and Dave, thanks guys, I still have another cold day coming, there’s still a mess to clean up. ;-)

Merry Christmas my friends!

Hi Jeff
You are some kinda “wild” man. I know you are not supposed to turn with gloves but your hands do look cold. You are definitely hooked and may you never get the hook out. Good job.
