I made one of these boxes several years ago, my wife liked it so much that last year and this she had me make some for friends and relatives. This year all told there were 11 here are some of them. I am hoping she will not ask for any more for a long time. They always take longer then I think they will and it’s a rush to get them done. I used several different species of wood on them, pretty much whatever I had on hand. I used some padauk, some maple, walnut, cherry, poplar, sapele, and another one that I don’t remember its name. I used brass quadrant hinges, which were really quite easy to install with because of Rockler’s jigit router jig. The one thing I do not understand is if I buy the wood and hinges, expend all of the labor building them why is she giving them as a gift. Did I tell you that several years ago she kicked me out of the garage and made build a stand-alone shop? I’ll build as many of these as she likes.

Considering that you had to make 11 of these boxes, you sure didn’t cheat on the quality Bob and they all came out beautiful. I have seen a lot of ribbon boxes but most often the boxes are not nearly as well done as yours. A great gift to friends and relatives that they will be sure to cherish. I feel your pain about the rush to complete them on time. That has been my fate most years, except for this year I was done a bit early.

Excellent boxes and bows. The hinges are great and not easy to install.

Beautiful boxes. Her friends are very lucky and will be excited when they receive those.

Wow! That’s some beautiful work, Bob! I sure hope these folks are considered very good friends. Only the best friends deserve that kind of extra effort. Well done.

They’re beautiful boxes, Bob. Your wife should be very happy, as should the recipients.
