I made this little walnut box for my sister in law to use as a tea box. Simple design with some maple splines to offset the walnut and wine colored flocking on the inside.
Thanks for looking.

Tom, great details I like the ogee at the top and the trim at the bottom. Of course the splines are a nice touch. The walnut has a lovely grain and color. Your photos are clear and well focused. This is a simple, well-thought-out design. Good work. You night want to look at this posting about cutting down longer hinges to fit the size of the box, and this posting on installing hinges. Just some ideas to think about.

Thanks for sharing Al, I will definitely study the links you sent. Getting the hinge exactly at the right depth for the top to look and function properly was a challenge!

Pretty nice design with hinge/opening on shorter side and wood you used. How this ’’one’’ hinge lid works? Has it some movement left-right?

Tom, the trim at top and bottom are especially eye-catching on an otherwise simple design. Nice wood choice and nice work!

I’m sure she will love this beautiful tea box. I like the woods and the detail. You did a fine job.

Ivan, the box is small enough that the single hinge works pretty well. Perhaps a small side rail hinge would have been a better choice….next time!
