Project Information

I had a few "rounds" tucked away from a trip into the woods last year. I turned this plate, about 14" in diameter, the other day. The grain when finished looked like two different pieces of wood. There was a piece of bark along the edge but I was unable to save it as part of the plate.

I really like this plate. Rustic and self-explanatory. I even like the side dent which gives it an occult (off-center) appeal. I'm very into rustic furniture, etc., with simple lines that let the wood be the star, not even into finishes unless it brings out the wood. Guess that's because my life is so simple and basic now. I grew up in a house filled with antiques from the 1700's, and it wasn't all that comfortable or casual. I appreciate it still, but don't want to live with it again.

Great looking plate. I really like the way the grain changes. It gives it character. Great job.

Keep it up.
