Bunch of my friends made Master Sergeant. Bunch of my friends are getting military challenge coin bottle stoppers.

The stoppers are from a kit that included a tap set, a way to mount the blanks to my lathe, and screw on stainless stoppers. I found it on amazon for about $45, but I think the kit is pretty generic and can be found anywhere.

Once I figured out how I wanted them to look i was able to knock these out in about 20 minutes a piece. I cut all the blanks at once, drilled and tapped them, and then I had to switch to one-at-time production for the rest of the process. I lathed them into shape, counter-bored a coin hole with a forstner, sanded up to 320, cleaned with a paper towel soaked in mineral spirits, and finally finished with paste wax applied from a paper towel. Doing the finishing on the lathe was fun and went faster than I expected. Everything was then epoxied together.

The wood is padauk. Padauk is messy.I recommend you figure out a way to hook your shop vac to your lathe.
