Fence Phase 2… The Arbor

It’s been a year since I built the fence and since it hasn’t fallen over (yet) I felt it was time to move on to the next phase. Da little women has always planned for an arbor, so time to get started.

Doing the work by myself, I enlisted the help of The Third Hand. In the photo you can see it (the orange item to the right of the ladder in the 3rd photo) supporting one end of this 2×10x10 as I secured the other end to the post.

Prior to assembling this project, I coated the wood with Thompson’s Honey Gold water seal and stain.

A well established Bougainvillea (AKA – Poke N Kill Ya”) has been transplanted.

That Arbor came out great Harold.
It really adds to the fence design.
That new shop is really nice too.
Great Job !

Nice work! I just did the same thing for a Neighbor. Maybe for different reasons.

The Gate Post Footings were NOT deep enough to support the gates properly. Doing this and partially excavating around the gate posts and dropping in some Dry Mix Post Set, firmed it up pretty good.
