A simple end-grain cutting board made from Black Walnut, Maple, and Cherry. This piece actually developed a split because of the solid edging that limited any movement. I did repair this crack and it seems to be holding. This failure, while initially terrible, led to my thorough understanding of wood movement. Anyone not familiar should get “Understanding Wood” by Hoadley. (http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Wood-Craftsmans-Guide-Technology/dp/1561583588)

this is GORGEOUS. I’d love to have something like this in my kitchen.
Wood movement. Hm.. a lesson waiting for me to discover.
(My photography side wants to make this into a large wall mural, it is so beautiful to look at)
